Please see our blog for the fun we had when we met up with our partner school after 2 and 1/2 years!
Active School Week- Peace IV Walk at Garadice
The Education Authority in Northern Ireland and Léargas work in partnership to implement the Peace IV Collaboration through Sharing in Education (CASE) programme.
CASE is for primary and post-primary schools in Northern Ireland and the Border Counties of Ireland. Its focus is on schools with no or limited previous experience of providing shared education opportunities to their children and young people. CASE aims to build a culture of good relations among school children and to equip them with the skills and attitudes needed to contribute to a society where the cycle of sectarianism and intolerance is broken and a culture of collaboration and cooperation is the norm.
Our school is linked with Greaghrahan N.S.
Due to the current restrictions face-to-face meetings weren’t allowed to happen. However, virtual meet ups and shared fun activities were held.
Both schools decided to participate in Share the Walk and took on the task of walking to each other’s school a total of 18.2km! Pupils measured the perimeter of the playground and we calculated how many laps we needed to do. Posters were created by both schools. Pupils were also busy walking and running to different tourist attractions around Ireland.
A Shared Active School Week was also drawn up by both schools and we had lots of fun doing various activities. (Please see Active School tab under Initiatives)
Pupils also used the natural environment in creating self-portraits. Pupils visited the Wild Flower Garden in Newtowngore to create their pieces.
Pupils enjoyed their virtual meet ups over Zoom.
Hopefully next year will allow us to meet up with Greaghrahan NS.
